What I Ate in New York ~ Summer 2017

June felt like the longest month ever. Dubai’s blistering heat and general slowness of the summer was a complete lull. Once July finally came around we headed off to the city, meaning New York City, the one and only. I love New York (so cliché I know), everything about it from the delicious to the dizzying. We usually visit every year and this time we opted to stay in Brooklyn, you know where all the cool kids hang out. I’d like to pretend/fool myself that I’m one of them especially when I adorn myself in mom jeans and a millennial pink top. Who am I kidding?

We ate well and we ate a lot. The food scene is vibrant and inspiring, here is what we feasted on:

Sunday in Brooklyn (it was actually Monday)…the grain bowl was pretty great, but that patty melt and salted chocolate chunk cookie took it home.

deep in Bushwick I sought out one of the best chocolate croissants in all of New York City at L’imprimerie.

pastrami salmon, cream cheese & bagels at Frankel’s – no further explanation required.

probably the best meal I’ve had all summer: Lilia. every dish was beyond delicious and flavorful, I will forever remember that focaccia with garlic scape butter and the sheep milk agnolotti.

a favorite from my previous trips – Supercrown Coffee Roasters

LES hotspot RN De Maria, I’d go back for that chili tumeric bone broth.

I’ve been stalking Emily Pizza since forever, I still can’t get over that pizza. that glossy sheen on top is housemade szechuan oil (OMG).

Mimi Cheng’s is another place I’ve been stalking all year. the crispy scallion pancake ~ SO GOOD.

hot temperatures require iced lattes ~ Third Rail Coffee & Happy Bones

chocolate chunk, hazelnut, rosemary, salt ~ Bakeri

vibrant Middle Eastern at NUR. pictured: Palestinian tartare ~ hand cut beef, smoked eggplant cream, sheep’s yogurt, raw tahini & Jerusalem sesame bagel ~ za’atar and lima bean messbaha.

arctic char tostada at ATLA

you wouldn’t even know it’s vegan at Superiority Burger

Clinton Hill is one of my favorite neighborhoods in BK, the Finch is the epitome of cozy with its tucked away on a tree lined street feel. the burrata with strawberries, peppermint & opal basil  was stunning.

on a rainy day we get flat whites ~ Three Seat Espresso Bar
